Composite fencing and retaining wall in Gwynfryn
Composite fencing combined with a retaining wall to hold the ground and square up the boundary.
The job
What we did in Gwynfryn
Where a garden sits above or below its neighbour, a fence on its own is the wrong tool — it ends up holding back soil it was never designed to hold, and it bows outward within a couple of seasons.
A retaining wall went in first to take the load properly, with the composite fencing built above it. That separates the two jobs: the wall holds ground, the fence provides privacy, and neither is doing the other's work.
Composite was chosen above the wall for the same reason it usually is — it stays looking the same without being treated, which matters on a run that would be awkward to get behind and paint.
