What we did in Bertie Road

Tongue and groove gives you a solid, gap-free screen. Where a panel fence lets you see through the joints as the timber shrinks, T&G boards lock into each other and stay closed up, which is what you want on a town-centre plot overlooked from several sides.

The whole run was built to measure on site rather than assembled from stock panels. That is the only way to get a straight top line on a boundary that isn't perfectly level, and it means no awkward cut-down panel at the end of the run.

The gate was made to match, so the boundary reads as one continuous piece of joinery rather than a fence with a gate dropped into it.
