Timber decking still makes sense when the budget matters or the look needs to be warmer than composite. The trade is maintenance: it wants cleaning and re-treating every year or two to stay sound and non-slip.

The frame was built first on solid bearings with airflow underneath, then the boards were laid with consistent gaps for drainage and movement. Getting the falls right so water runs off rather than sitting on the boards is what keeps timber decking usable through a Welsh winter.

The result is a level, solid platform in a spot that previously wasn't much use for anything.
