Arched timber gate in Acrefair
A worn gate replaced with a custom arched tongue and groove gate on new posts and ironmongery.
The job
What we did in Acrefair
The old gate was worn out and the posts with it. Replacing a gate without replacing tired posts is a false economy — the new gate simply drops and starts catching within months.
The replacement was built as an arched tongue and groove gate, made to measure. The arch is a small detail that lifts a plain boundary considerably, and the T&G construction keeps it solid rather than see-through.
New posts and new ironmongery went in with it. Hinges and latches are what get used thousands of times, so fitting decent ones is what determines whether the gate still works properly in five years.
