A standard replacement done properly. The old fence came out entirely, including the post stumps, which is a step that often gets skipped and then causes trouble when the new posts can't go where they should.

Concrete posts and gravel boards went in as the base of the new run. Timber posts rot at the soil line — that is where fences fail, almost without exception — so taking the ground contact out of timber and putting it into concrete is what buys the extra decade.

Feather edge panels above give a solid, traditional finish that suits the setting and can be treated to any colour later.
