Raj blend sandstone patio in Cross Lanes

Raj blend Indian sandstone with a matching 100mm cobble border, jointed in Easy Joint Select Mushroom.

The job

What we did in Cross Lanes

The existing area was fully excavated before anything new went down. That is the honest way to build a patio — you cannot lay good stone over a base that was never right and expect it to stay level.

Once the new sub-base was in and compacted, Raj blend Indian sandstone went down with a matching 100mm cobble border running around the edge. The border is the same stone family, so it reads as one surface rather than a patio with a trim stuck round it.

Joints were finished in Easy Joint Select Mushroom, a brush-in compound that stays flexible and resists weeds far better than a sand-and-cement joint, which cracks out as the ground moves.
