Raj Green Indian stone patio and curved path in Gwersyllt
A cracked concrete slab and a worn lawn dug out and replaced with a larger Raj Green patio and a curved cobble path through golden gravel.
The job
What we did in Gwersyllt
The back garden had been patched together over the years. A cracked concrete slab ran along the house, the lawn was worn thin with loose paving slabs sunk into it, and a broken stepping-stone path led down to the shed. The path by the side gate was cracking and crumbling, and soil from earlier digging was heaped up against the fence.
We hired a digger and took the whole lot out, concrete, turf and old slabs, down to a proper sub-base depth. A new retaining wall went in further down the garden so the patio could be extended out past where the old slab finished, giving a bigger, level area to sit out on. Materials came from Thorncliffe and the stone from Universal Paving.
The patio is Raj Green Indian sandstone, with matching Raj cobbles laid in a curve to make the path. Every joint is filled with EASYJoint in Mushroom, which sets hard and keeps the weeds out. Golden gravel at 10mm was laid either side of the path to finish it off. It took two weeks, and all the waste was taken away at the end.
