Kandla grey patio in Bersham
Kandla grey Indian stone laid with a charcoal sett border and KL kerbs, on a fully rebuilt base.
The job
What we did in Bersham
The brief here was a clean, modern patio with a finish that would still look right in ten years. Kandla grey Indian stone does that job well — it is a calm, even grey that doesn't fight with the house, and it holds its colour far better than a cheap riven slab.
The whole area was excavated and rebuilt from the sub-base up. That is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether a patio is still level after three winters. Once the base was in and compacted, the slabs went down on a full mortar bed rather than spot-dabs, so there are no hollow corners waiting to crack.
The charcoal sett border and KL kerbs give the edge a proper defined line and stop the paving creeping outwards over time. It also frames the grey nicely without needing any other detail.
